CASE FILE: 07‑UM
The Healer • The Hustler • The Mother Who Lost and Found Herself
Real Name: Ursela Mae Richards • Age: 46

ROLE IN COFFY TOWN
Bathroom attendant, spiritual technician, quiet oracle of the nightlife. Keeper of secrets, sins, and survival stories. A mother carrying an old wound. The only person who sees the whole board.

IDENTITY & PRESENCE
Unassuming but unmistakable. Crisp blouse, black slacks, sensible shoes. Apron pockets full of essentials and wisdom. Hair wrapped or pinned; jewelry minimal. Eyes that see everything and judge nothing. Voice is an alto rasp — slow, deliberate, maternal, mystical. She never raises her voice; she raises the truth.

BACKSTORY
At 19, Lady fell for her art‑school dean, a powerful white man. Their daughter was born with pale skin and blue eyes. He convinced her the child would be “safer” with him and his infertile wife. Young and vulnerable, she agreed. He bought her silence with a record deal that led nowhere. After walking away, she dropped out, worked clubs, mothered strangers, and turned bathroom stalls into sanctuaries, confessionals, and healing circles.
Her daughter returned years later as Jackie Smith, owner of Club Surrender. Angry and wounded, Jackie kicked Lady out. Lady didn’t fight. She understood. The wound never closed.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Ancestral intuition: senses danger, reads energy, talks to spirits, protects spaces with black salt and oils. Knows when a house remembers, when a mirror watches, when a child is lost.
