Once a South Side Chicago barber shop, Club Surrender has been transformed by owner Lucille Saphire Jones — known to insiders as Lucy — into a sultry, private cabaret lounge where secrets shimmer as brightly as the chandeliers. The walls are blood-red, the mirrors gaudy and gold-framed, and the marble floor whispers of old money and new mischief. Velvet seats cradle confessions. Peacock feathers fan the flames of desire. Candles flicker beside lowball glasses and low-stakes lies.
💋 The Plot
Tonight, something’s off.
Ruby, the club’s dazzling headliner, vanished after her opening act. Her pearls were found scattered in the alley behind the club — where Funky John, Lucy’s former flame and ex-business partner, now lives and performs impromptu sidewalk shows. Detective Jimmy, an old friend with a complicated past, has been called in by the club's owner to quietly investigate. But his feelings for Ruby run deeper than protocol, and his marriage to Bettie is already on thin ice.
Inside Club Surrender, the performers are tight-lipped. Scarlett Falls, Ruby’s rival, seems to be slipping into Ruby’s spotlight — and maybe her identity. Unpimpable Missy runs Funky John out of the dressing room before Jimmy can get answers. Ruby’s locker is empty. The music keeps playing. The mystery deepens.
